SAUNA & COLD Plunge

A wood-fired sauna on the banks of a Finnish lake. An ice cold plunge in an Icelandic river after a hike. An onsen hidden in the Japanese mountains as the sun goes down. Cold water, wild nature, that feeling of being completely, gloriously alive. There really is nothing quite like it.

For people who feel most alive in wild places, with a sauna, a cold plunge and good yoga thrown in, these retreats were made for you.

Heat, Cold & Wild Places

Humans have been doing this for thousands of years. Long before cold water therapy became a thing people talk about on podcasts, people were jumping between fire and ice because it made them feel really, really good. Alert. Alive. Like themselves again.

There's something about doing it in the wild that no spa can replicate. That first gasp of a glacial river after a long day on the trail. The wilderness is part of it. That silence afterwards, wrapped in something warm, staring at something vast. It's a special kind of bliss.

What Our Guests Say

Where we go

These are the places where wild landscape and ancient heat and cold rituals come together. Each one extraordinary in its own way.

finland

Nobody does sauna quite like the Finns. Sauna isn't a wellness trend here, it's just life. The way people gather, unwind and put the world to rights. Wood-fired heat, cold air, good company. We follow their lead.

Our Finland retreats take you into that ritual properly. Days spent out in the extraordinary winter landscape before returning to the warmth of the sauna as the light fades.

You'll stand at the edge of the frozen lake convinced you're not going in (spoiler: you will go in). Best decision you'll make all week.

nepal

Camping on a remote ridge as Everest reveals herself at sunrise. Hiking to ancient monasteries at altitude. A wild plunge in a Himalayan river on the way back. The sauna waiting at the lodge as the Himalayas turn pink at dusk.

Few places on earth make heat, cold and wilderness feel this sacred. Our lodge, a beautifully restored Sherpa retreat once home to Sir Edmund Hillary, sits right in the middle of all of it.

A week in Nepal has a way of getting under your skin. Mountains, culture, cold water, heat, yoga — it all plays a part.

West norway

A 100-year-old farmhouse on the northwest coast of Norway, sitting in the middle of one of the world's most spectacular scenic routes. Reinheimen National Park on the doorstep. A hidden UNESCO heritage fjord just beyond. Award-winning cabins designed so that the landscape feels like it's inside with you.

At the heart of it all, a bathhouse built directly into the land by the river: steam room, hot tub, sauna and a plunge straight into the water below. Yoga happens in a glass-walled room overlooking the river and mossy woodland. Twice a day, with the kind of views that make it very hard to close your eyes.

MONGOLIA

Deep in Mongolia's Khan Khentii wilderness, nomadic families live among vast herds of horses and yaks in meadows of wildflowers so green it's like the saturation has been turned all the way up.

And this is where the riverside yurt sauna lives. Heat your body until the air outside feels icy, then plunge into a crystal clear river running through one of the wildest places we've ever been.

Evenings here are for campfires, folk songs with nomadic families, and a sky full of stars that makes everything else feel very small and very far away.
