Europe still has plenty of wild left in it. You just have to know where to look.
While everyone else heads for the same well-trodden corners, we go a little further. To remote islands above the Arctic Circle. The quieter western edge of Iceland. Deep into Finnish Lapland. And across Greenland by expedition vessel, reaching tiny coastal communities.
There’s yoga, of course. But also hiking, wild swimming, sauna, geothermal bathing, snow, sea and plenty of time outside.
This is wellness in wild places. Just not always the obvious ones.

A WILDER SIDE OF EUROPE
Europe welcomes hundreds of millions of visitors every year. Yet somehow, so many travellers end up in the same places.
We’d rather travel off the beaten path. That means looking beyond the places already filling your feed, and working with people who really know their corner of the world. It takes us to remote islands, small communities and wild landscapes many visitors never reach, while helping tourism reach places beyond the usual hotspots too.

Wellness in Wild Places
The quieter corners, wilder edges and far-flung places that keep us coming back to Europe.
West Iceland
Iceland might not exactly be a secret anymore. But head west and it’s a different story. We stay in Stykkishólmur, a tiny fishing town on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, with the harbour on one side and a landscape of lava fields, glaciers and mountains on the other.
There’s yoga by the harbour, boats out into Breiðafjörður Bay, hikes, geothermal lagoons and hot springs. We go in autumn, when the air is crisp, the days are getting shorter and there’s a chance of the Northern Lights showing up after dark.

Arctic Norway
Norway’s famous for its fjords and mountains for good reason. But we head a little further north, to a remote island above the Arctic Circle where you get all that drama, without quite so many people around to share it with.
In summer, that means hiking empty coastal trails under the midnight sun, yoga overlooking the fjords, dips in the Arctic Ocean and sauna to warm back up again. Our apartments sit right on the water, with beaches, mountains and wildlife all around. We come back in winter too, when the same island becomes a very different place.
west norway
Our other corner of Norway takes us west, to a peaceful valley surrounded by forests, rivers and mountains. We stay in a pretty special hideaway here, with huge windows looking straight out at the landscape and a bath-house waiting when you come back in from it.
Days are a mix of yoga with Naomi Annand, hikes through the valley and plenty of time outside in the autumn air. Then it’s back for good food, a hot bath and a spot by the fire. Norway does cosy very, very well.

Finnish Lapland
There’s another side to Lapland beyond Santa and Christmas crowds. Head deeper into Finnish Lapland and you get frozen forests, proper wilderness, cabins buried in snow and, if you’re lucky, the Northern Lights doing their thing overhead.
It’s about as close to stepping into a winter storybook as you can get. Drive your own husky sled, snowshoe through silent forests, try forest skiing, practise yoga and warm up the Finnish way: sauna, followed by an icy dip if you’re game.
Greenland
Greenland is getting a lot more attention these days, but most visitors still only see a tiny part of it. We travel by expedition vessel through Arctic fjords and iceberg-filled waters, stopping at remote coastal communities with no roads connecting them.
Hike ashore, practise yoga in local community halls, watch giant icebergs drift past from the deck and spend nights under starry Arctic skies, hopefully with the Northern Lights overhead. There’s even a homemade sauna on the boat, followed by a plunge into the icy water outside. Quite possibly the best cold plunge you’ll do all year (or ever!)

Romania
Romania might just be one of Europe’s most underrated corners. We travel from Bucovina across the Eastern Carpathians and into Transylvania, through forested mountains, medieval towns and Saxon villages that feel a long way from Europe’s usual tourist trail.
There’s yoga along the way, but plenty happens beyond the mat: hiking mountain trails, walking sections of the Via Transilvanica, visiting 500-year-old painted monasteries, eating at local farms and getting stuck into village traditions. Throw in cobbled Sighișoara, the forests of Transylvania and a traditional spa or two, and you’ve got a pretty good week in Romania.
