Spend six nights immersed in the wild beauty of Finnish Lapland, where frozen lakes, snow-covered forests and vast Arctic skies create the setting for an unforgettable winter escape. Combining yoga, Arctic adventures and Finnish sauna culture, this is a chance to experience life deep in the snowy wilderness above the Arctic Circle.
A gentle daily rhythm
Most mornings begin with yoga, easing the body awake and setting the tone for the day ahead. After breakfast, we head out into the Arctic wilderness for a different adventure in the snow each day. As the afternoon unfolds, we return to the warmth of our cabin for sauna, yoga and time to unwind, allowing the body to relax after days spent exploring the far north.
Exploring Lapland on snowshoes
Our journey begins on snowshoes, travelling through silent forests and across frozen terrain with our Finnish guides. As we move through the landscape, they share stories of life in the Arctic, local traditions and their connection to the wilderness that surrounds us.
A husky sledding adventure
Another highlight is a visit to a small, family-run husky farm, where you’ll meet an enthusiastic pack of sled dogs before setting off on a self-driven safari through the snowy wilderness. The crisp air, vast open landscapes and steady rhythm of the dogs make this one of Lapland’s most memorable experiences.
The Finnish sauna tradition
You’ll also experience one of Finland’s most cherished traditions. Beside a frozen lake, we’ll spend time in a traditional wood-fired sauna before embracing the exhilarating contrast of an icy plunge, followed by warming fires and hot drinks.
Time to choose your own adventure
There is also a day to experience Lapland at your own pace. You may choose to go downhill skiing, try cross-country skiing, head out on a snowmobile adventure or simply stay close to the cabin, enjoying the sauna, resting by the fire or taking a quiet walk in the snow.
A final journey into the forest
Towards the end of the week, we travel on traditional forest skis through the snowy wilderness to reach a remote Finnish lodge hidden among the trees. Here, we’ll gather for another sauna and icy dip before sharing a traditional meal prepared by our local hosts.
A week of winter, adventure and connection
Bringing together yoga, snowshoeing, huskies, forest adventures, sauna rituals and Arctic landscapes, this retreat offers a rare opportunity to experience winter above the Arctic Circle.
This retreat falls into our Venture Traveller category and is designed for those who are excited by the idea of experiencing winter above the Arctic Circle in an active and immersive way. Expect days spent snowshoeing through forests, driving husky sleds, forest skiing and embracing icy lake plunges, with temperatures often well below freezing.
You don’t need any previous experience in the activities, but you should have a reasonable level of fitness and be comfortable spending extended periods outdoors in cold conditions. A sense of adventure, resilience and a willingness to try new things will help you get the most out of the week.
This retreat is ideal for travellers who love exploring lesser-visited places and are happy swapping beach holidays and city breaks for snowy wilderness, cosy cabins and life in the far north. While the days are active, the pace is balanced, with time to warm up in the sauna, practise yoga and relax by the fire each evening.
Yoga on our retreats is open to everyone, whether it’s your first class or something you’ve practised for years. Our groups are always a mix, and there’s no pressure to keep up or perform. You’re encouraged to move in a way that feels right for you. Sessions are thoughtfully designed to be grounded and accessible, often becoming a natural way to stretch, slow down, and reconnect after a day outdoors. We work with experienced teachers who know how to support beginners while also helping more regular practitioners deepen their practice, creating a space where people often surprise themselves in the best way. Yoga takes place in the spacious living room of our retreat home, creating a warm, comfortable setting to slow down, stretch out and reconnect
Mornings begin quietly, with tea or coffee available from around 7am as the cabin slowly comes to life. Most days start with a yoga session around 8am to gently wake the body, followed by a generous breakfast shared around the table by the fire, with plenty of choice to set you up for the day ahead.
By late morning, we get ready and head out for our daily adventure. With our own vehicles, we travel comfortably to each experience, whether that’s visiting the husky farm, heading to the lake for sauna and an ice hole dip, or meeting our Finnish guides at the cabin for a day of snowshoeing. On longer days, we’ll take a packed lunch with us, while on others we return to the cabin for a relaxed, home-cooked meal.
We usually return in the early afternoon, when it’s time to rest and warm up. You might unwind in the sauna, curl up by the fire, or take some quiet time to yourself as the light begins to fade.
In the early evening, we gather again for a slower yoga session, typically around 5:30pm, to help the body recover and the mind settle after time spent outdoors. Dinner follows around 7:30pm, with three courses and a relaxed, convivial atmosphere. Your retreat host will reflect on the day and talk you through what’s to come.
Evenings are unhurried. Some people stay up chatting, others head to bed early, perhaps after a final sauna. And throughout the night, we keep watch for the Northern Lights, so if they appear, you won’t miss them.
Each day follows a similar rhythm, balancing time outdoors with space to rest, warm up, and recharge.

Who is hosting this trip?
All of our retreats are hosted by a Reclaim retreat leader, who manages logistics and looks after the group, alongside a Reclaim yoga teacher who leads your yoga sessions.
We have our own cabin in Finland which will be managed by our retreat leader and our own chef who manages the kitchen. Our activities are managed by our carefully chosen suppliers, small family run businesses located nearby. We have been working with them for a number of years now.
We believe in good tourism – travel that’s genuinely good for everyone involved: the people who come with us, the communities we visit, and the places we pass through.
In practice, that means measuring our emissions and working to reduce them, choosing locally owned partners, and seeking out destinations that are less visited and more meaningful. It shows up in every decision we make, from where we go to who we work with.
Our Finland retreat cabin is owned and run by a Finnish family, set within a small ski area in Lapland that is popular with visitors from southern Finland rather than a large or heavily developed resort. The cabin sits on the edge of Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park, a vast protected wilderness, and we work closely with an excellent local guiding company whose certified wilderness guides are deeply committed to conservation, wildlife protection, and caring for this fragile environment. This reflects Finland’s careful, long-term approach to tourism, where protecting forests, wildlife, and fragile Arctic environments sits alongside allowing visitors to experience them responsibly.
