Some places can only be understood on foot. The scale of a glacial valley. The silence of a high mountain trail. The way a forest changes as you move through it. The light, the sounds, the air.
These are yoga retreats at heart, but ones where the hiking earns equal billing. We go to places where walking isn't just an activity, it's how you really get under the skin of somewhere. Where the trail, the yoga, the culture and the stillness all work together. Boots on. Off we go.

Walking meets wellness
Morning yoga to ease you into the day (all levels, always). A long day out in wild landscapes. Then, depending on where in the world you are, a riverside sauna, an onsen hidden in the mountains, a hot stone bath as the sun goes down.
These aren't walking holidays where you move from A to B and fall into bed. Yoga and wellness are woven through everything: the way the day opens, the way it closes, the way the destination itself becomes part of the practice.
A reasonable level of fitness helps. Good boots are non-negotiable. A sense of wonder goes a long way.

Where we go
Patagonia
A hiker's dream, Patagonia doesn't do things by halves. Soaring peaks, glacial rivers, ancient forests, and a scale of landscape that makes you feel teeny tiny and very alive at the same time. One of those places that genuinely lives up to its reputation... and then some.
Expert local guides lead the hikes through Los Glaciares National Park; blue lagoons, ancient ice fields, the legendary Laguna de los Tres with Fitz Roy rising behind it. That feeling at the top: joy, exhaustion and overwhelming gratitude, all at once (you'll know it well by the end of the week).
The retreat ends face to face with the Perito Moreno Glacier. Ancient ice that groans and shifts as you watch. If raw, elemental wilderness is your thing, Patagonia belongs on your list.

Hokkaido
Hokkaido is Japan's last wild frontier, and East Hokkaido, where this retreat takes place, is a part of it that very few visitors ever reach. Volcanic landscapes, crane-filled marshes, crater lakes, UNESCO-listed coastline.
Every trail has a story. A hike over an actual volcano; sulphur, steam and all (yes really). A quiet path through old-growth forest to a cobalt spring the Ainu call the Lake of the Gods. The Sea of Okhotsk glimpsed through ancient trees.
Yoga, forest bathing, and the restorative ritual of the onsen at the end of each day. A retreat that moves at the pace of the landscape. Which, for the record, is exactly the right pace.
Bhutan
There's nothing quite like landing in Bhutan. The approach alone – banking between Himalayan peaks, dropping into a valley so narrow it feels like the plane has no business being there – tells you immediately that this is somewhere different.
The last Buddhist kingdom on earth. Prayer flags fluttering over mountain passes. Rhododendron forests you wind through on foot. The air feels different here. Cleaner, quieter, charged with something.
And Tiger's Nest. A sacred monastery teetering on a clifftide 900 metres above the valley floor, reached by a four-hour climb that is as much spiritual as physical. Worth every step. Every single one.

NEPAL
Few places prepare you for Nepal. Sacred valleys, glacial rivers, the kind of warmth from people that makes every encounter feel genuinely meaningful — and then the mountains themselves, which are simply on another level.
You'll be based at a beautifully restored Sherpa lodge at 2,500 metres — once home to Sir Edmund Hillary. Yes, that Sir Edmund Hillary. Days move through the foothills of the Himalayas on trails that serious mountaineers have walked before you, building to an overnight camp on a mountain ridge: sunrise meditation, Everest peaking in the distance at first light, and a hike back down feeling like a completely different person. Hard to come back from, in the best possible sense
