Solo wellness holidays: Off the beaten track adventures

Thinking about travelling solo? You’ll be in very good company.

More than 40% of guests join Reclaim Yourself retreats independently, because they know what they need: a little breathing space, time to reset, and the freedom to choose a journey that feels entirely right for them.

Our retreats are welcoming, and intentionally designed to bring people together. Between yoga, outdoor adventures and the shared experience of being somewhere extraordinary, connections tend to form naturally. By the end of the week, it rarely feels like anyone arrived alone.

Why choose a solo wellness retreat with reclaim yourself?

Going on a big adventure with a small group of strangers can feel like a leap. That’s exactly why every Reclaim Yourself retreat is designed to feel welcoming and easy from the moment you arrive.

Our yoga retreats and wellness adventures bring together small groups of like-minded people, guided by experienced teachers and a dedicated retreat leader who looks after the week from start to finish. With shared meals, local experiences and yoga in extraordinary settings, connection tends to happen naturally (no awkward icebreakers required).

As a certified B Corp, we also believe in good tourism — travel that benefits the places we visit as much as the people who come along. Each retreat is created with trusted local partners and communities, resulting in something a little different from a typical solo wellness holiday: a small-group adventure where you can arrive independently, explore remarkable places, and feel genuinely looked after.

What Our Guests Say

Which destinations suit solo travellers best?

Short answer: all of them. That said, different places offer different kinds of magic.

If you’re wondering where to begin, even our most remote retreats are carefully handled from arrival to departure — so you can focus on the experience, not the logistics.

The destinations below offer just a glimpse of the kinds of places solo guests love exploring with us.

SUMBA ISLAND

Sumba Island in Indonesia feels wonderfully undiscovered. Wild beaches stretch for miles, waterfalls spill through jungle valleys, and traditional villages move to rhythms that have changed little over generations.

Travelling here feels a bit like stepping off the map. Exploring the island with a small group creates an easy sense of camaraderie — shared swims in hidden lagoons, long dinners together, and that quiet thrill of discovering somewhere few people have been.

Norway

Norway lends itself beautifully to wellness experiences. Spending time outdoors is deeply woven into the culture here. From sauna rituals and cold-water dips to long days exploring mountains, forests and coastline.

Depending on where you go, the experience shifts. In the fjordlands of the west, life slows down with autumn hikes, riverside saunas and quiet moments beside deep blue water. Further north in places like Senja, things feel wilder. Midnight sun hikes, sea swims beneath towering peaks, and landscapes so dramatic they tend to stop everyone in their tracks.

Patagonia

Patagonia has a way of making the world feel wonderfully big again. Granite peaks rise dramatically from wide valleys, glaciers move slowly through ancient landscapes, and condors circle high above.

Exploring a place like this has a way of bringing people together — whether it’s walking through national parks, sharing stories over dinner, or simply standing in silence in front of something immense.

Finland

Finnish Lapland offers a different kind of wilderness. Snow-covered forests stretch endlessly across the horizon, frozen lakes glow beneath pale winter light, and the Northern Lights often appear overhead on clear winter nights.

Days here revolve around simple, shared experiences — snowshoe walks through silent forests, husky sled rides across frozen lakes, and the quiet ritual of warming up in a sauna before stepping back out into the Arctic air. After a day like that, everyone tends to be in pretty good spirits.

Small group travel: Independence without isolation

Our retreats run as small group experiences, which helps things feel relaxed rather than overwhelming.

Some moments are naturally shared — meals around the table, yoga sessions, time outdoors — where conversation tends to flow easily. Other moments are entirely your own.

If you want to wander off with a book, take a quiet walk, or simply skip an activity, that’s completely fine. There’s always the freedom to step back, and no expectation to join everything.

For many solo travellers, it’s the balance that makes the experience work so well: time to yourself, alongside the easy company of a small group.

What to expect on your wellness journey

Every Reclaim Yourself retreat is designed as a carefully curated journey — one where the details are taken care of so you can simply settle into the experience. Days often begin with daily yoga, led by highly respected teachers and open to everybody, whatever your level or body shape, followed by a nourishing breakfast prepared by our retreat chef or local team.

From there, the day might take you hiking through Patagonian wilderness, kayaking along Norway’s fjords, or husky sledding through Finland's Arctic forests – as well as opportunities to experience local culture and traditions. Afternoons often bring space to read, journal, enjoy a massage or simply sit with a view. Along the way you’ll share nourishing meals made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients and stay in extraordinary places — from traditional Japanese houses to remote eco-lodges and Mongolian gers in the Gobi Desert.
