International flights to and from Antananarivo are not included. We provide suggested international flight options on the travel page, and our team is happy to advise if you’d like support with booking.
Your domestic return flights between Antananarivo and Sainte-Marie, along with all airport transfers and ground transportation throughout the retreat, are included within the retreat price. As these are group arrangements, they operate at fixed times in line with the retreat schedule.
What’s the group size and what kind of people are going?
This retreat is limited to 12 guests, creating a small and intimate group experience.
Our retreats bring together a mix of solo travellers, friends and couples, typically aged 40–60, though we also welcome those in their 30s and 70s. They are solo-friendly by design and attract open-minded people who enjoy wellbeing, wildlife, nature and exploring places beyond the usual tourist trail.
Some guests come primarily for the yoga, others for the wildlife and destination, but many end up falling in love with both. The atmosphere is warm, grounded and easy to be part of.
Do I need malaria tablets?
Malaria is present in some parts of Madagascar, but the risk varies by region. Antananarivo, where your journey begins and ends, sits at a high altitude and is considered malaria-free. The areas visited during this retreat with a malaria risk are Sainte-Marie and the rainforest region of Andasibe.
We recommend consulting your GP or travel clinic well before departure for the latest advice on malaria prevention and whether antimalarial medication is appropriate for your itinerary. They can advise on the most suitable prophylaxis based on your personal circumstances.
Do I need any vaccinations or a visa?
Please check the latest vaccination advice on TravelHealthPro and the latest entry requirements on the UK Government Madagascar travel advice page before travelling. Entry requirements can change, so we recommend checking these official sources shortly before departure.
Can I book on my own?
Yes, absolutely. We have many solo travellers on our trips, and Madagascar is a wonderful destination to experience as part of a group. It’s a great way to meet like-minded people and share the journey together.
Can you cater for my dietary requests?
Our accommodation can cater for most dietary requirements, but we do need to know in advance. Please include any requests on your booking form and we will confirm in writing. You are also welcome to check with our team before booking.
Who is hosting this trip?
All of our retreats are hosted by a Reclaim retreat leader, who manages logistics and looks after the group, alongside a Reclaim yoga teacher who leads your yoga sessions.
For this retreat, your retreat leader will be Jools Sampson, founder of Reclaim Yourself Retreats, and your yoga teacher will be Jean Hall. Throughout the journey, we’ll also be accompanied by experienced local guides and naturalists who will introduce us to Madagascar’s extraordinary wildlife, rainforests and unique biodiversity.
