*Application only. If you would like to join this trip please email us*

Join Emma Henry for an exclusive yoga expedition to Svalbard, a remote and mysterious archipelago located halfway between Norway and the North Pole. This is an extreme and truly spectacular place is made of dramatic glaciers, fjords, vast ice fields and icebergs. Rich in wildlife, it is the domain of more polar bears than people and we will be exploring this elemental place in the endless arctic daylight of mid summer.

Fully Booked

With space for just 8 guests, this is an exclusive arctic explorer expedition. You will need to be fit and resilient to enjoy this Jivamukti yoga retreat. Our destination is Nordenskiöld, a remote and silent place 3 hours by boat from Longyearbyen. There is plenty of wildlife around the fjords at this time of year so we expect to see arctic birds, walruses, beluga whales and if we are lucky, the polar bear.

We will be staying in the northernmost commercial cabin in the world, located on the moraine shore of the Adolf fjord, at the edge of the magnificent Nordenskiöld glacier. Your retreat includes one yoga class each day along with a daily guided trip out to explore the incredible landscape all around us.

Kayaking is a very traditional way to explore the arctic shorelines so we will spend a day kayaking in pairs across the magnificent glacier front and icebergs. We hike on two days, exploring the beautiful arctic land, glacier moraines and reaching one of the close by mountain peaks. On our final day we will climb up the majestic glacier that lays just 300 meters away from the lodge. At the end of each day you can try a refreshing sea bath or simply relax and warm up in the sauna.

Yoga with Emma Henry

Senior Jivamukti teacher Emma Henry will teach one big class each day, leaving the rest of your day free for your polar activities. This small group on this retreats means each class will be a tailored, personal and powerful experience.

Each Jivamukti class offers a dynamic asana practice that is infused with inspiring teachings derived from the ancient yogic texts. Classes will include chanting, breath awareness, flowing vinyasa sequences, alignment exploration, hands-on assistance, relaxation and meditation.

We recommend that you have previous experience of a flow class and enjoy being challenged by a dynamic style of yoga. It is a yoga style that will require you to commit to your classes.

This yoga expedition is for 8 guests. All accommodation on this retreat is in twin rooms.

On arrival you will stay 1 night in Longyearbyen. Our hotel is a stylish and comfortable small hotel. It is decorated in authentic trapper´s style down to the very last detail. The interior is covered with driftwood, maps, pictures and objects that illustrate the past and the present of life in the Arctic. All rooms have 2 comfortable beds and private bathrooms with showers.

You will then stay 4 nights at Nordenskiöld Lodge. With no running water or electricity, this is a true expedition lodge in the middle of the Arctic. We use wood to heat the cabin and get our drinking water from the melting glacier.
