Our story

Jools Sampson, owner of Reclaim Your SelfReclaim Your Self was founded in 2005 by me, Jools Sampson! I am the owner of Reclaim Your Self and I create our yoga retreats. I have a passion for working in interesting places and for seeking out extraordinary destinations. I love places that are less explored – the places where beauty and wild nature make your soul sing.

We run 10 yoga retreats each year and I personally host each one. We are not into mass production here at Reclaim Your Self!  We don’t have a list of venues and book in teachers to deliver your classes but rather I seek out excellent people to collaborate with and we work together to choose locations and create retreats from scratch. This means every retreat is made with love.

On retreat my job is to make sure everything runs like clockwork. Behind each retreat is a creative fusion (and a lot of hard work) by our international and local team members, with me at the helm making sure our guests receive a high quality personalised retreat experience.

I want everyone who comes on our retreats to have an absolutely amazing time so I look after our guests, making sure they feel really well supported and cared for. I’ve been working internationally for more than 20 years now and running retreats for 12, so I am the calm and friendly force who is always around on retreat making sure everyone is ok – from practical stuff to moral support and encouragement, a listening ear and a cup of tea (I’m British and it’s always a winner!)

Where did I come from? I changed careers in 2004, moving from international development into the wellness world. When I started, there weren’t many yoga holidays around so we were pioneers.

What was my vision? I passionately wanted to create a yoga retreat community; something powerful and new, an excellent and inspiring space for people to share skills and wisdom, whether they be guests, team or our local hosts.

I’ve kept the team small and our vision strong. Everyone on the team is following their dreams, sharing their expertise and best ideas. We enjoy being part of everything that happens on a retreat and we put our hearts into everything we do. I am really proud of what we have created, it’s a team effort every step of the way. Emma Henry

Yoga teacher

Emma Henry was introduced to yoga in the mid 90s and has been teaching since 1998. Her background in dance and martial arts is evident in her dynamic, innovative and playful choreography and understanding of anatomy and the subtle body. Read about Emma.

Her yogic path has led her to Mysore from practicing Astanga with Sri K Pattabhi Jois to advanced certification in the Jivamukti method. Emma is an Advanced Certified Jivamukti Teacher and facilitates the Jivamukti Teacher Trainings with Sharon Gannon and David Life.

Her continuing education is shared with her students around the world through her love of yogic texts and her utterly mesmerising chanting. Watch Emma teaching.

    Tuscany Yoga Retreat

    Adam Husler

    Yoga teacher

    With experience in the boxing ring, on ultra marathon routes, studying law and with 9 years of having a yoga mat in hand, Adam (500RYT) brings a unique perspective to his yoga teaching.

    Adam’s love of anatomy has lead him to specialise in Alignment Based Vinyasa Yoga, studying at an advanced level under Jason Crandell. Adam has also studyied intensively under Budokon Yoga Founder Cameron Shayne and renowned meditation teacher Michael Stone. Read more about Adam here.

    Adam’s creatively sequenced classes feature long holds, controlled yet dynamic movements, intelligent alignment and deep exploration of depth in postures. They’re also dogma free! Check out Adam's London life.

      Jean Hall

      Yoga Teacher

      As a life long lover of movement and creativity Jean has spent much of her life exploring bodywork disciplines, travelling and practicing yoga. In 1995 she qualified as a Iyengar yoga teacher and has continued to study different forms of yoga with many great teachers from diverse backgrounds including Geeta Iyengar and Sri K. Pattahbi Jois, as well as working with more unconventional teachers such as Gill Clarke and Paddy McGrath.

      Jean teaches a soulful and deep dynamic slow flow form of yoga. She is known for her unique creative sequencing which helps to draw students and teachers safely beyond limitations and closer to their true potential and confidence through the yogic system of asanas, mindful breathing and meditation with an approach of devotion and playfulness.

        Bettina Campolucci-Bordi

        Head chef

        Our head chef Bettina is based in London and is the owner of Bettina's Kitchen. She is a busy working mum, pioneering plant-based projects, collaborations and workshops.

        With a background as a professional chef, her plant-based journey started more than 10 years ago when she launched her own retreats and she did all the cooking. What had started as an experiment became her life. In 2018 she released her first book and we are delighted to have her heading up our kitchen teams for 2019.

          Richie Tewnion

          Guest chef

          With almost 20 years experience in top chef roles around the world, Richie comes with a wealth of experience.

          He trained at Jamie Oliver's Fifteen and then worked his way up to head chef roles in highly regarded restaurants in Chelsea and Hoxton.

          Richie spent more than five years in East Africa working on 2 exclusive private island projects before opening his own restaurant in South Africa.

          Now back in UK and in high demand, we are delighted to have Richie as a guest chef in Tuscany and Iceland.

            Amanda Tizard

            Massage therapist

            We are delighted to have the very talented Amanda Tizard on the team. With over 10,000 sessions and more than 15 years experience as a bodyworker,

            Amanda is highly regarded within the wellbeing circles of London and Ibiza and listed by Conde Nast Traveller magazine as one of the top body fixers in the world.

            Amanda uses advanced bodywork techniques that include Thai, deep-tissue massage, myofascial release and trigger point therapy.

            She is also a master in Craniosacral Therapy and Transformational breath work.
