Join Adam Husler for a vinyasa yoga weekend in Senja, Norway. Experience the enchanting beauty of a remote snowy winter wonderland in the Arctic Circle. Embrace the wilderness with exciting adventures husky sledding through pristine landscapes and snow shoeing under the Northern Lights.

Our yoga retreat destination is the north west coast Senja island, an incredibly beautiful part of Norway where majestic mountains dive straight into the sea. You stay in luxury apartments set around the harbour of an old fishing village with uninterrupted views of the snowy mountains.

Winter here is magical, with temperatures usually well below zero, plenty of deep snow and night skies filled with the Northern Lights.

We travel there by ferry through the fjords at dawn and begin our retreat with husky sledding. As daylight appears we set off on a unique adventure, exploring the pristine Arctic wilderness while mushing teams of powerful Siberian huskies. After helping return our friendly dogs to their camp, we enjoy a well earned lunch around a cosy fire.

After an energetic start to your weekend, it is time to settle in and enjoy the wintery views from the warmth of your apartment. With daylight over by mid afternoon you have your first Vinyasa yoga practice with Adam. Later that evening relax in the outdoor jacuzzis enjoying expansive views of the fjords. This is a perfect place to enjoy the Northern Lights and reflect on your day.

On Sunday you’ll focus on your yoga practice with two longer classes, sound healing sessions and time between to relax in the sauna, have a nap or book Arctic body rafting, a kind of sea meditation where you float peacefully in the river (wearing a special suit to keep warm). After dinner we are back out on another adventure – snow shoeing in the wilderness. Decked out in survival suits we will heading up to a mountain pass and enjoying the ethereal silence of a snowy polar night.

On Monday we have one more yoga class before heading back through the snowy landscapes to the port where will join the world famous Hurtigruten ship to sail back through the fjords to Tromso, this time enjoying the views in the daylight!

This winter adventure weekend is suitable for anyone who enjoys a physical challenge, both in their yoga practice and out in wild, wintery nature. You’ll need to be relatively fit and strong to manage an action packed schedule. This is one of our most adventurous European yoga weekends and the best way to enjoy it is to get out in the wilderness and explore!

Yoga with Adam Husler

Your yoga retreat classes will be between 1.5 – 2.5 hours long and some will be workshop style so you can explore aspects of your practice in detail. Your afternoon classes will be longer than morning sessions to give you space and time to go deeper.

Adam uses his diverse background and understanding of the body, to give you a strong, smooth flowing class, where breath, body and mind are linked as deep postures are slowly explored with anatomical precision and intelligent alignment; building heat and strength in your body. Check out Adam’s online yoga classes.

Also included in the retreat are 3 sound healing sessions with Alchemy crystal singing bowls. As you lie still and relaxed on your mat and allow the sounds to gently wash over you and through you, the healing vibrations restore balance and harmony to your body and your mind.

Travel to Norway

You are heading to a remote location in north Norway but it is a fairly straight forward journey.

You can fly direct from UK to Tromso with Norwegian Air from Gatwick for around and with Wizz Air from Luton. Flights are around £180. You can also fly via Oslo with SAS for around £220.

From Tromso we take a local ferry for just over an hour to Senja island.  You will need to stay Friday night in Tromso on the way out so that we can get the early ferry on Saturday. The cost of this is not included in your retreat but we can recommend a great hotel or cheaper B&B when we receive your booking form.

Full details on flight and ferry timings will be given when you book.

From owner Jools: This is one of our favourite new locations, high up in the Arctic Circle. We had an epic retreat here mid-summer and now we cant wait to share this remote and magical place with you in the snowy winter months. Our weekend combines action packed days filled with yoga, husky sledding, sailing through the fjords and snow shoeing with time to relax (recover!) in warm luxury apartments, and the toasty sauna and jacuzzis. I travelled here in January 2018 to create this weekend and had the most amazing time. The Northern Lights were incredible. See you there…
